Marc, David, and Scott have been active volunteer participants supporting the mission of the New York Life Foundation. A foundation made up of New York Life agents who donate money to local and national charities, as well as, volunteer for projects to help their local community. Marc is on the Board of Directors for the Kaleida Health Foundation whose mission is to advance the health of our community They provide compassionate, high-value, quality care, improving health in Western New York and beyond, educating future health care leaders and discovering innovative ways to advance medicine.
Marc has served on the AYH board since 2011, the MOHL house conveiner since 2013, as well as sitting on the strategic planning subcommittee for the AYH board.
Scott Zeplowitz is a volunteer for the Hunter’s Hope Foundation. Hunter’s Hope Foundation was established to address the acute need for information and research with respect to Krabbe Disease and related Leukodystrophies. In addition, we strive to support and encourage those afflicted and their families as they struggle to endure, adjust and cope with the demands of these fatal illnesses.
Jim previously served as Board Chair of the Penn Dixie Fossil Park, where he was a board member beginning in 2014. The Hamburg Natural History Society (HNHS) promotes the hands on study of natural sciences, including geology, astronomy, and ecology through the operation of the Penn Dixie Fossil Park and Nature Reserve, a tourist attraction for individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
Jim previously served on the Board of Directors for the Southtowns Regional Chamber of Commerce, an organization dedicated to empowering local businesses and professionals by providing resources, supporting business growth, and promoting regional development.
Jim is a past President and member of the Hamburg Rotary Club which is an organization of business, professional and like-minded individuals united worldwide who work to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all endeavors and help to build goodwill and peace in the world. The Rotary Club of Hamburg was chartered on Feb. 24, 1942 and continues to provide service to the southtown communities.
ROI Financial Group has been actively involved with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation since 2016 and has been instrumental in securing over $130,000 for Crohn's and Colitis research. In 2018, because of their continued passion and support, Marc I Rosenthal and Samantha Rae Hughes served as the revenue committee and logistics committee chairs respectively.
The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cures for Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, and to improving the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. It was founded in 1967 by Irwin M. and Suzanne Rosenthal, William D. and Shelby Modell, and Henry D. Janowitz, M.D.
Marc became involved with Camp Good Days & Special Times in 2007. Since then, he has served as an Advisory Member and was inducted into the Camp Good Days Ring of Honor in 2015. In 2008 he received the “Teddi” award and in 2014, along with his wife Tricia, they received the Spirit of Teddi Humanitarian of the year award.
Camp Good Days provides services for: children with cancer, children who have a parent or sibling with cancer and/or children who have lost a parent or sibling to cancer. We also offer programs for women and men who have or have had cancer. In addition, Camp Good Days provides programs for children touched by sickle cell anemia. All of the programs and services are offered free of charge for the participants.
At Camp Good Days, participants have the opportunity to regain some of what cancer has taken away from them. While a vast majority of our children reside in NY, Camp Good Days has no geographical boundaries and accepts children from all 50 states and all over the world. No child with cancer is ever turned away from Camp Good Days.
